It's the holidays, time to relax and take a break from the studying! Or is it? Although it's good to put your course books to one side, you might still want to do a bit of English. Luckily there are lots of ways to do this that don't feel like hard work.
Here are 12 ideas to try:
Go to an English-speaking country and speak to as many people as you can.
Read a good book in English - there are some ideas here or here.
Watch some YouTube videos about topics that you are interested in. Get some ideas here.
Read some of the articles we've discussed in conversation class. Check out the list.
Send me a postcard from your holidays, written in English of course.
Join my Wednesday conversation club if you want to practice your English on a regular basis. Find out more here.
Find a favourite podcast and listen to it. There are tons of ideas here.
Play games in English with your family and friends, such as Pictionary, Articulate for kids, Dobble or 'Stadt, Land, Fluss' (in English!)
Find a television series to watch.
Go to a museum and set the audio guide to English.
Watch some sport with the English commentary.
Meet up with English-speaking friends.
Alternatively, if you have time to dedicate to English, you might want to sign up to an intensive English course either here in Zurich or in England.
I'm offering intensive courses in the first two weeks of the summer holidays so if you've always wanted to improve your English, now might be the right time. Simply send an email to adriennehughes.english@gmail.com or contact me via the website.
Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great holiday.
